Dashboard Gadget
The Spotlight Chart gadget puts a spotlight directly on a Jira dashboard, next to your other gadgets — no need to open the app to see your chart.
Adding the gadget
Section titled “Adding the gadget”- Open (or create) a Jira dashboard and click Edit.
- Search the gadget list for Spotlight Chart and add it.
- The familiar builder opens inside the gadget: describe the chart and Draft with AI, pick a template, or build it manually.
- Save. The gadget renders the chart in place.
To change it later, use the gadget’s Edit menu — the builder reopens with the saved settings.
Same engine, same guarantees
Section titled “Same engine, same guarantees”The gadget uses the same builder and renderer as the main app:
- All data sources work — issue charts, sprint velocity, access tables, custom plans.
- The chart renders live with the viewer’s permissions, on every dashboard load. A dashboard shared with the whole team shows each person exactly what their own Jira access allows.
- AI drafting in the gadget counts against the same fair-use limits.
Gadget vs gallery
Section titled “Gadget vs gallery”One difference: a gadget’s configuration belongs to the dashboard, not to your gallery.
- The gadget builder has no visibility option — a gadget is already “shared” with whoever sees the dashboard.
- Gallery spotlights and gadgets don’t sync. To show a gallery spotlight on a dashboard, recreate it in the gadget (the card in your gallery shows the original description — reuse it as the AI prompt).
- Getting Started — the builder walkthrough.
- Sharing & Team Gallery — the in-app way to share.
