Install Pulse
Pulse is a Forge app distributed through the Atlassian Marketplace. Installation takes under two minutes and requires Confluence admin permissions on your site.
Before you install
Section titled “Before you install”- Confluence Cloud (Forge apps do not run on Confluence Data Center / Server).
- A user account with the Confluence admin privilege (needed to install Forge apps).
- At least one space with pages you want to evaluate.
Step 1 — Open the Marketplace listing
Section titled “Step 1 — Open the Marketplace listing”- Sign in to your Confluence site as an admin.
- Open the Marketplace listing for Pulse: marketplace.atlassian.com → Pulse.
- Click Get it now (or Try it free to start a trial).

Section titled “Step 2 — Choose your site”If you administer more than one Confluence site, pick the site Pulse should be installed on, then click Install.
Step 3 — Review and accept permissions
Section titled “Step 3 — Review and accept permissions”Atlassian will display the permissions Pulse requests. Pulse is read-only on content:
read:page:confluence— read page bodies (needed for content depth, structure, and broken-link analysis)read:space:confluence— list spaces and their metadataread:content-details:confluence— read version history and timestamps (for freshness signals)read:analytics.content:confluence— read page view counts (so the dashboard can prioritize high-traffic pages)read:confluence-content.summary— read content summariesstorage:app— cache scores so dashboards load quickly
Pulse does not request any write or modify scopes. It cannot edit your pages.
Click Get it now to confirm.
Step 4 — Wait for installation
Section titled “Step 4 — Wait for installation”Atlassian provisions the app — usually 10–30 seconds. When complete you’ll see a Get started button.
Step 5 — First scan
Section titled “Step 5 — First scan”Pulse needs to scan your content once before dashboards have data.
- From any Confluence page, open the global Apps menu → Pulse Dashboard.
- On first open, Pulse runs an initial scan in the background. Depending on the size of your instance this can take from a few seconds (small spaces) to a few minutes (large instances).
- Alternatively, wait for the automatic weekly scan — Pulse re-scans your instance once a week on a schedule.
In addition, Pulse updates a page’s score in real time whenever someone creates, edits, or deletes that page (via Confluence’s standard event triggers).

Verifying the install
Section titled “Verifying the install”You’ll know Pulse is working when:
- Pulse Dashboard appears in the Apps menu.
- Each space’s left sidebar shows a Pulse Health entry.
- The byline of any page (under the title) shows a Health Score badge.
Updating Pulse
Section titled “Updating Pulse”Pulse updates automatically through Forge. There is nothing to deploy or restart on your side.
Uninstalling Pulse
Section titled “Uninstalling Pulse”- Settings → Apps → Manage apps in Confluence.
- Find Pulse in the user-installed list.
- Click Uninstall.
